Best Fiction Film

The award for Best Feature Film at the BEYOND Festival 2025 goes to ‘We All Go Up’ by director Adrian Schwartz.
Congratulations to Adrian Schwartz!

Reason: ‘We All Go Up’ uses a kaleidoscope of metaphors to accompany a young man who despairs of the reality of earthly life and yet hesitates to seek refuge in the promises of salvation offered by a supposedly better, digital world. Adrian Schwartz tells of human conflicts, self-doubt and the hope of living a life free of suffering in a virtual paradise. In this way, ‘We All Go Up’ addresses existential questions about humanity, happiness and the price of progress in an increasingly technologised world. With impressive imagery, the film explores how social pressure and the conflicts of the real world drive people to seek refuge in the virtual and gamble away their earthly existence. Disturbing and unsettling.
